Sommetrics recently announced its aerSleep™ system received a Health Canada Medical Device License, allowing it to be marketed in Canada. Sommetrics’ aerSleep™ is the first device to use negative external air pressure to successfully treat OSA, a disorder that afflicts more than 20 percent of adults worldwide. OSA is linked to health conditions, such as type 2 diabetes and heart disease, and new research suggests poor-quality sleep over time is associated with higher levels of Alzheimer’s disease-related proteins.
